David Rabinovitz, MBA, CLFP Principal Advisor
David is a unique problem-solver with strong financial expertise. David is known for solving vexing problems related to finance, strategy, debt workout and restructuring, business turnarounds, succession planning, ownership transition, deal structuring, and Mergers & Acquisitions support.
David received his B.S. in Business Administration at Northeastern University, and his Master of Business Administration at F.W. Olin Graduate School of Business at Babson College.
He started his career in the equipment leasing and finance industry, where he is a Certified Lease/Finance Professional (CLFP) and financed numerous transactions across a wide array of industries. Mid-career he returned to school to earn an MBA and entered the consulting industry, serving architects and engineers in matters of succession planning, ownership transition and expansion, deal structuring, mergers & acquisitions, shareholder issues, business restructuring, and strategic planning. He has ample experience in workout and restructuring and led the restructuring of a Midwest media company. He also has experience in distressed assets and led an acquisition of a small fast food restaurant transaction.
David entered the cannabis industry inadvertently via a consulting engagement in 2010. David is the Co-Founder of Stone’s Throw Cannabis, a social equity dispensary opening in downtown Boston, just a stone’s throw from South Station. He is a Technical Advisor to the City of Boston for their Cannabis Social Equity Program, a past Trainer for the Massachusetts Cannabis Control Commission’s Social Equity Program and is the former Director and Treasurer of MassCann (the Massachusetts Cannabis Reform Coalition).
This cannabis experience has led to David being a highly sought after speaker at cannabis events in the northeast, and a regular contributor of industry insights & analysis in several media outlets, including as the founding host of The Green Rush, a weekly cannabis business talk show on Pro Cannabis Media.
David is known for his financial acumen and creativity in deal structuring. He assists clients with financial modeling that investors love, determining the value of their business, establishing investment pricing, and designing deal terms for investors. He is a go-to person for many cannabis start-ups and is highly respected for his industry insights and analysis (Google David Rabinovitz + Cannabis).
Troubled businesses turn to him for creative solutions that get opposing parties to reach agreement. He has an expert ability to infuse humor into difficult situations to diffuse tension, foster discussion, and secure group buy-in.
His insights are typically supported by best practices he has learned from other industries over a 40-year career.
